LESS

By Opeyemi Oreagba

POEM
Unceasing slaps and punches
Aggressively her heart he tosses
Like friction he pulls and pushes
Till she melts and breaks
Becoming his toy and slave
Her folks advised against his gaze
Never knowing he was a fake
She leaped in the crawl of a snake
At nights he comes to beg
Having no choice than to mend
For a 'no' was like tossing an egg
Mornings he would switch
Hit her unfailing every inch
With no just reasons but itch
Scared, she could not leap
He would send her under 6 feets
But who was she to squeak
Women are creatures of the weak
She had no voice
And would fade like noise.
